Like any well read dog with a pedigree we love reading a good book about football in front of the fire with our favorite beverage when there isn't any football on the television.

Cleveland's Browns by Paul Tepley

INTRODUCING CLEVELAND'S BROWNS

THE NEW PHOTO BOOK RECOUNTS THE FIRST 50 YEARS OF THE CLEVELAND BROWNS AS SEEN THROUGH THE EYES OF FAMED SPORTS PHOTOGRAPHER PAUL TEPLEY

The clock is winding down on the return of football to Cleveland, and the return of the Cleveland Browns. As we reflect on the rich history of this franchise, no book captures it better than Cleveland's Browns. Cleveland 's Browns is a new 190-page photography book recounting the history of the franchise and its players as seen through the eyes of famed sports photographer, Paul Tepley.

Divided into decades, this 9 1/2 x 13" hardbound book is a pictorial depiction of the first 50 years of the Browns, beginning with the purchase of the franchise by Cleveland businessman Arthur "Mickey" McBride, and continues through the rebirth of the team in 1999 with a new owner and a new stadium. The majority of the book's 232 photos come from Tepley's career as a photographer for The Cleveland Press, with additional photos provided by the Cleveland Press Collection at Cleveland State University, and from area photographers Tony Tomsic, John Reid III and Mike Levy.

"It is my hope that the photos in this book will bring back a lot of memories of the people and events that make up the history of the Cleveland Browns," says Tepley. "It meant a lot to me to see the faces again, just as it will mean a lot to any Browns' fan.

"With all the fine photographers who covered the Cleveland sports over all the years, nobody ever did it better than Paul Tepley," says Bob August, onetime Cleveland Press sports editor and columnist. "He had the instinct and the eye to react to the special moments and to record them for our pleasure and enlightenment. Despite recent unpleasantness, the Cleveland Browns is a rich tradition and Paul Tepley's photographs are an indispensable reminder. As a new team starts out, this book refreshes our memory of what the Browns once had been."

Designed by Dan Boos Design, with copy written by Jim Van Horn and Paul Tepley, Cleveland 's Browns depicts the first 50 years of the Browns like no other book on the market. "What makes this book different from most books is the way the photos are displayed," adds Tepley. Many of the photos are displayed across entire pages, and some are 13 to 26" wide. It's a rich collection of Browns' history.

Cleveland's Browns is now available in book stores and various locations throughout Northeast Ohio, and retails for $49.95. Cleveland's Browns can also be ordered by phone at 440-333-3444, or via the internet at www.brownsbook.com.
